CONGRATULATIONS!
This is fantastic news!
Congrats! Congrats! Congrats!
Many congratulations to Christina, Eloisa, and Lisa!!! We’re thrilled for you!
Yippee!
They’re all winners
Woo hoo! Congrats my fellow chickadees! Me is very proud!
B...but Teresa, you called me a cow!!
Thank you to everyone! I’m thrilled!
Congrats Ladies!! Four great books!! Simply marvelous!
Silly Xtina! Don’t you know it’s okay to call someone a cow as long as it’s preceded by the word “Congratulations” as in “Congratulations Cow!”
And I’m a little disappointed in the size of that exploding champagne bottle. I’m used to something much...larger.
Somebody spends waaayyyy too much time with PhotoShop!
ahhahahhahah
That is GREAT though! Love the faces
What photoshop? That’s a real picture!
I think there are two kinds of pleasure when you hear you’ve won (or finalled):
First is the pure joy
Second is the pure hilarity of watching your friends try—and fail—to be joyous for you!
You guys make my day, AS ALWAYS!!
xoxo
Eloisa
Congratulations to Christina, Eloisa, and Lisa! But we know that all of you are winners, Rita nominee or not.
First of all, they should leave the Rita nominations and judging up to us, the Squakees.
It would be a SWEEP!
Congrats Eloisa, Lisa and Christina. If one of you doesn’t win, I’m crying foul.
J
Congrats to all of you! How wonderful!
I’d like everyone to recall lasst year when everyone was a finalist except moi. So ... PARTY! PARTY! PARTY!
I just finished my SECOND celebratory s’more! (which is not at all what Brockway accused me of doing for a celebration.)
Ya know, Liz is looking younger every day!
Liz has great skin.
Cyber hugs and champagne to Eloisa, Lisa (twice!), and Christina. Four fabulous books, all so deserving of their nominations.
Hope you gals don’t wake up with celebratory hangovers!
xox
Congratulations!!
Thank you dear ones, and CONGRATULATIONS to Xtina and Eloisa, and CONGRATULATIONS to Connie, Liz and Teresa for being so wonderful and amazingly talented. Having you all as friends is the best award I could imagine!
Oh, please. I am NOT crying. In 18 years and 60 entries, I’ve had a total of TWO nominations. I’m not due for another until 2015 at the earliest. Not to mention the fact that when I was nominated last year, I had a heroine who was an agoraphobic, ex-con who was estranged from her family, and this year I have a heroine who’s...a twin.
And not to mention also that I won’t even be at the Ritas this year, on account of I scored EXcellent seats to The Police concert at Churchill Downs that night, so I’m coming home early. Hah.
But massive congrats to Xtina, Lisa and Eloisa! (And Terri and Connie, quit pouting. Between the two of you, you have enough nominations to light Broadway. Unlike SOME people, who only have, um, two.)
I do have great skin, though. You guys are right about that.
Congratulations Eloisa, Lisa and Christina! Time to whip out the princess dresses and feather boas.
Somehow my comment got eaten! Let’s try that again.
Congratulations, Ladies! Well-deserved. Can’t wait for the party when you all bring home the big prize.
Now, Liz, I’m soooooo jealous. I want to see The Police sooooo bad. LOL!
Congratulations, Eloisa, Lisa & Christina! Party, party, party...I am sure all the Squawkers and the Squawkettes will have a great time at RWA.
Woohoo! Congrats Eloisa, Christina, and Lisa!!! Awesome! I’m just glad I don’t have to make a decision between the three of you. Unless ... can you have a four way tie?
Liz, you youthful lady, you, did you say that you have tickets to The Police? I’M SO JEALOUS! I love “Every breath you take.” It’s one of my faves. Sort of haunting and driven. Yummm!
Ok, I’m off to celebrate. Of course, it’s morning, so I’ll just crack a bottle of champagne and make a mimosa! OJ is healthy for you, right? Right!
Cheers, m’ladies!!!
Congrats for the thousandth time, ladies! Looks like the RITA people have great taste!
YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!
You ladies rock - all of you! There’s a reason why I’ve practically handed my visa over to Amazon.
Congratulations, All!
And Liz...your youthfulness is astounding.
Great skin, indeed!
I wonder if they’ll let you in to the Police concert?
Rebecca
Congratulations to Eloisa, Lisa and Christina; on your well deserved nominations. All four books I completely enjoyed.
And for whats it worth: To all of you, I express a heart felt “Thank You”, for all your hard work. All of you have made loooong road trips pass in pleasure. Nothing helps to eat up the miles like a good book. And those lonely night when my husband is out of town or out of the country, you have all kept me company in the form of one book or another.
I applaud all your hard work, and if I could I would present you all with an award. A “Squawker Award” You know...ummm....A rubber chicken, wearing a feather boa and tiara.
Teresa,
I realize this is coming late in the conversation.
Concerning: Xtina, “Congratulation Cow!”
Here in the south we have a rule. When your going to say something flattering or maybe not so flattering, you always precede the remark with “Bless her heart” example:
“Bless her heart, Xtina is such a cow for receiving yet another Rita nomination.” (I really don’t think your a cow Christina)
Some how by adding the phrase “Bless her heart”, what ever follows is no longer gossip or bad mouthing. It is a miracle what can be accomplished by adding 3 small words.
CONGRATS SQUAWKERS!!!!!
Julie-Lynn, Teresa is from Kentucky and knows the “Bless your heart” rule (which I learned from Geralyn Dawson when I lived in Texas.)
But as I understand it, in Teresa World, if she’s having PMS on the same day the RITA nominations come out and she doesn’t receive a nomination and I do ... then I should be grateful she didn’t say, “Congratulations, you OLD cow.”
Which I am.
And Julie-Lynn, your weak protestations about not thinking I’m a cow are noted.
Yes, she said smugly, adding that they’re really good seats, too, in an already relatively small venue (relative to some of the others they’re playing anyway).
And, Julie-Lynn, what a nice thing to say. Thank you.
Christina, I am originally from WA, so I am still trying to figure out all the rules concerning “southern hospitality”.
I’ve been in VA for 13 years. Am I considered a southern girl yet?
See? Still not sure about the rules!
Congratulations Girls!!!
I’m beaming with happiness for you!
Julie-Lynn, I lived in Texas for 21 years and they very politely never told me I didn’t fit. But I think you totally have the “Bless your heart” rule down, at least as I understand it.
It’s just that Teresa has these special “conditions.” And while those conditions are in force, we never argue with her. She is a fearsome woman. (She’s working right now, but when she comes in this afternoon, I suggest we hightail it out of here or we will be sor-ry!)
Great news ladies! So well deserved!
Your a funny Gal Christina! We will just have a pitcher of very sweet ice tea waiting for Teresa for when she arrives. That will surely smooth any of her ruffled feathers. “Bless her heart, conditions and all.”
Now I really want to go to RWA! Just to see the RITA ceremony~!!!
Julie-Lynn, there is a book called G.R.I.T.S. (Girls raised in the south) and it has “The Rules”. Very funny.
Examples:
-Southern ladies don’t sweat, we glisten! &
-You can say anything you want about another person as long as the heart is sufficiently blessed.
Prudence,
Funny stuff. G.R.I.T.S is now on my list of books to buy. I need all the help I can get. However, my family says I have picked up a bit of an accent. Yikes!
Yes, julie-lynn, but “God love her” works nearly as well as in “God love her, the little cow got a RITA nomination.”
And I tried to encourage Xtina to eat as many celebratory smores as she wanted because I’d enjoy nothing more than watching her waddle on stage to collect her Rita
Teresa,
LOL! I forgot all about “God Love her”
Congrats everyone on the RITA nomination(s)!
I’m sooooooo thrilled that Lisa was nominated for Devil in Winter--I just flipped for that book--I read it all the time. I just loved how Sebastian (St. Vincent) redeemed himself/proved himself worthy of Evie’s love and Evie showed some real gumption--(I love the sweet but feisty heroines!). I already talked Lisa’s ear off about this novel when I met her in Austin--what a treat it was to meet you--you’re such a delight!--but I’ll stop gushing about this story so I don’t annoy anyone too much!
Whatever happens ladies just know that you’re all winners!
Love to all from the heart of TX
Congrats Ladies!!!
Those are wonderful books.
Your comments to each other kept me giggling.
Tina
Congratulations, ladies!!! You totally deserve it!
LdyB
WOW WOW WOW
Congratulations ladies.
You must be dancing on the ceiling!
