CHRISTINA BRINGS YOU … SNOW! (and a nice view) (and a question)
I am living in Kent, Ohio right now. I am heading out right quick to go and get the book. I found Eloisa’s book Monday at Giant Eagle. I can’t believe we can still wear light jackets here. Usually the weather turns to crap during Thanksgiving and stays like that all the way through March. It is usually slushy, ugly muck kind of snow that we have by now. I am so happy it is still warm. It does look like rain though. Perfect for staying in and reading.
I live in the southeast where it is a balmy 64 degrees today and supposed to hit 70. We had a nor’easter last week, though. And your Seattle cold will eventually make its way here (although it will be diluted and we RARELY have snow that lasts more than a day).
I am searching for an excuse to stop working for a while and drag my kids (home early today!) to the bookstore so I can pick up those new books. I’m up-to-date on both series so I, too, have been waiting!
I just finished the book during my lunch hour. LOVED IT! And ladies if you could see my swollen eyes...I forced myself to stop reading at 2:30 am. Yikes! I’m on 4 hrs. sleep and tonight is Eloisa’s book...goodness I love y’alls books! Losing a little sleep is worth it.
I bought both copies last night at a Borders in Washington, DC.
Beautiful snow pictures...my cats are jealous.
But I thought the snappy, bitchy brunette was...never mind…
I bought Christina’s book last night at Borders here in the Albany, NY area. They didn’t have Eloisa’s out yet....boy was I upset. Am going out after work tonight to try and find Eloisa’s.
Here in Upstate NY it’s been way too nice. It is in the upper 50’s here today! Usually we’re in the 30’s by now and expecting our first snowfall if we haven’t already had it by now!
Loved the pictures, Christina but you can keep the snow out West, if it’s all the same. Love looking at the pics but don’t want to have to drive in it myself. The pooches are adorable.

OK, so I live in the middle of nowhere...or Middle Earth (I prefer the latter description
so neither of the books have arrived yet :( Maybe before Xmas!
orannia
Christina, where is your picture in the snow? The dogs are adorable. Hope you had a great time in Disney. Now you can make believe you are Belle playing in the snow.
It’s awfully pretty there though, with all the snow!
Lois
Oh, nooooo. It’s snowing again ...
Ok, I know this isn’t overly helpful, but I bought my copies of TPKAB and PFP at Books-A-Million today, the not overly helpful is the fact that I only bought one copy each. I don’t tear up my books, so no need to buy several copies. But I did get my hands on my copies...yayy!!
Forgot to mention that I adore the photos of Ritter(too cute) and Lizzie (man she’s beautiful!!).
And I’m like really jealous of your view, of course that kinda evens out with the pity I felt for you having to walk in the really cold snow. But then you do have a really nice fireplace to warm those toe-toes. So we’re back to the jealous part hehe.
Wow!, Look at that snow! My kids would love it. I live at the beach and I had to turn the air conditioning back on, it got too hot today. I love the idea of a cozy fire curled up with those adorable puppies.....all dogs are puppies in my book...and of course a good romance novel.
Then again.....it could be a cozy fire, curled up with a previously tortured, gorgeous, sexy, male.
Haven, you only bought one copy each?!
That’s it! You’re out of the will!
Really, I only wondered how many copies were there, I wasn’t asking that you buy a bunch of them. Altho if you’re so moved, I would never stop you.
Prue, I so don’t feel sorry for you about your air conditioning. In fact, I feel I can speak for everyone in a cold climate when I say Ffffttttppppp!
Oh trust me, if I could buy them all I would! I enjoy sending books out to non-romance readers. But blast it all, out of the will huh. Man!
I’m in LA (no not Cali), and they had about 3 copies left, the clerk said something about getting 10 copies.
I can’t recall how many he said about Eloisa’s book, or even if he said. I was in that buying glow moment, you hear few words as your gaze is fixed on your new book in hand. Watching as they place it into the bag for you to carry home. *sigh*, such a wonderful feeling.
Oh! Oh yeah, back to current topic. I haven’t seen them in Wal-mart yet, but the one here is typically two weeks late, if not more.
I can totally see you and Eloisa hitting the NYT’s list...easily!
word is expected46 (yea, I expected to find my books yesterday but today was well enough hehe)
It was a freaky 75 degrees here in Kentucky today. I went on a five mile bike ride
Ok Ms Dodd, I deserve that. So I’ll leave you with this......tomorrow, when I’m sitting in my beach chair, scrunching my toes in the warm sand, I’ll be thinking of all you squawkers while I read my new copy of TPKAB. Catch you all tomorrow evening....
Prudence
mmmm Prue…
you are painting a very nice picture that I am now completely living through you… toes in sand? I hear central ny is supposed to get hammered with snow on friday....
16 inches? what the heck??
Maybe time to write a snowed in with a Christina Dodd hero… there could be worse things....
Does it count if we buy books at grocery stores? They seem to get them out in my neck of the woods before the bookstores do. I bought both TPKAB and PFP, and I did some creative rearranging when I picked up my copies. Gotta get those books at eye level for the browsers.
I live in a small town in northwest South Carolina. My book outlets are Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and an indy bookstore.
As of last night, NOBODY had The Prince Kidnaps a Bride and ONLY WALGREENS had Pleasure for Pleasure (and only 3 copies - 2 after I bought mine). Walmart had stocked their shelves but two authors took the complete book space on four shelves and that didn’t leave much room for other books. That’s been getting worse and I really don’t understand why that is.
Btw, I started PFP about 7:30 last night and finished it with a sigh at 3:00 am this morning. I *wanted* to go to sleep but Josie and her man just wouldn’t let go! It was wonderful!
Christina, you know I LOVED Prince and have my ARC but I’ll also be buying a copy -if my stupid stores ever put it on the shelf!
Love the pictures and the dogs are adorable as always but, honey you can keep that snow out there. I’ll be just fine singing White Christmas. I don’t need to be trudging through it. (grin)
Hey, thanks everybody who bought MY book (OK...OK...thanks for buying that other dame’s book too...)
I would like to say that I’m snowed in, Christina, but the truth is that I checked out my local Borders and you were there in force--
OK, you had 7 out of a buy of 12.
HAPPY?
You should be! *g*
Eloisa
Janga, yes, I’m always interested in grocery store buys. My Fred Meyer has a book dep’t that’s as big a lot of bookstores, and they stock it well and early. I buy books there a lot. And I rearrange the books, too.
Thank you!
pj, I always tell people to email Walmart when they stock titles like that. They listen to complaints, and if enough people write, you’ll get a response. And yes, I know no one wants the snow. It’s actually supposed to be mild winters up here, and I think usually it is, but this November has been ubsurd.
Thanks for the Borders report, Elaine! Eleanor! Whoever!
I haven’t seen PRINCE KIDNAPS A BRIDE
I know I’ll find it in the next couple of days
....or else!
I absolutely adored PLEASURE FOR PLEASURE *sigh*
But now it’s over
*sob*
Ooooh I am so jealous! You have SNOW!!! I miss snow. We had about an inch on the ground Oct 22 that lasted until the next morning before melting (except where the kids trampled it to oblivion in their joy), and usually that means we’ll have the first real snowfall by Halloween and be trick-or-treating in snowsuits. (I’m in Ottawa, Canada).
Mother nature is laughing at us this year - we’ve had RAIN for months. Well ok, I’m exaggerating. We’ve had rain for about six weeks solid, with only a day or two here and there of sunshine. And cold, we’re sitting a degree or two above freezing, but no snow. NO SNOW. And two young kids who haven’t had nearly enough outdoor play time this fall what with all the rain.
I wish it would just hurry up and snow already. We usually have at least a foot of snow on the ground by the end of November, and we still have grass. Wet, soggy, muddy grass.
And cranky kids.
The forecast for tomorrow? Rain. Of course.
I decided good report cards were a agreat excuse to drag the husband and kids to B&N tonight. (I also got dinner out - I like to make full use of these things.) Anyway, once I got my daughter settled with a book and to stop talking, I dashed off to the romance section looking for PFP and TPKAB. What did I find under the appropriately alphabetized authors? Neither! I was very annoyed. I live in a metropolitan area and have to put up with crime and traffic. In return, I expect my books to show up on time. To continue - as I moped my way back to the front of the store, I checked out all the new book sections. And there they were - in new paperbacks!!!
Finally, I was able to drag my family out of the store (thank goodness for membership discounts!) and head home. Now the dilemma - which to read first after bath and bedtime)? I’ll flip a coin.
Just to let you know - there were probably half a dozen or so of each book in the new paperback section before I bought mine. BUT NONE FILED ALPHABETICALLY UNDER ROMANCE (of course, they could have been gone).
Sorry Christina but our Fred Meyers only had Eloisa’s book (and I did buy it) but not yours so once our snow melts and I can get to Borders TPKB is on the top of my list.
I feel your pain about the drive home Monday night, it took me 6.75 hours to go the short 33 miles from Seattle to my home in the country. Why oh why can’t people learn to drive in the snow or stay off the roads!
Sorry Christina, I haven’t bought your book yet, or that other person’s either… what was her name again?
I plan to read it, I just haven’t gone out to get it! As for where I live, that an easy question to answer as I live there!!!!
My home is in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada. A.K.A. Cottage Country (where lots of ‘stars’ buy property on the big lakes in the area and come summer...) Ever hear of it?
I bought both books yesterday at Waldenbooks. I have not have time to start reading yet as I am trying to finish up work for my online classes. I can’t wait until I can get into the books.
Cristina, I am another FL babe who has her air on cause it is 80 degrees here!
Carla
Got my copy of TPKAB while at that other dame’s signing last night. Yes, yes, I know I have the ARC but I wanted my own copy too! Did the same for Connie’s Hot Dish.
I went to Wal-Mart for groceries yesterday and purposely stayed away from the book section because I knew both of those books would be there and I would HAVE to buy them and then I would HAVE to read them and I am in the home stretch for this semester with my grad school classes. One week to go and about a week and a half of work to do. In fact, I really shouldn’t be here. A week from tomorrow I am going to send the kids to school and sleep all day. Then the next day I am going book shopping! I will just have to decide which one to read first!
Hi Christina,
My mom bought me a copy of TPKAB, it’s waiting at home as a present for when I make it through finals. I can’t wait to read it!!!!
I’ve got 2 copies of PFP (although my mom took one from me when she saw me over Thanksgiving) and I absolutely love it!!!!
Kat
Christina,
My sister lives in Seattle, so I’ve been hearing all about the snow. Looks pretty. I’ll have to get used to that next year when my family and I are living in the mountains of NC--brrr!
I made a run to Target yesterday and got both yours and Eloisa’s book. Hooray! I know I’ll love them both and be sad when I finish.
You guys are wonderful!
And my youngest is heading into finals at law school, so I totally support your extremely mature decision not to indulge in pleasure reading ... but man, I would never have managed it, myself. I salute you!
Your show has made it here to the Texas Panhandle! SSSSHHHEEEEESSHH! And here I was running around outside barefoot on T-Day!
Your dogs are really pretty!
haven’t seen it yet, sitting here, it is 40oC, nearly summer.
Oops, I meant, the SNOW. My fingers are cold, and my brain is freezing!
Wow, that’s a lot of snow, esp. in Nov.!
Well, all you squawkers were all together in the local Wal-mart, save Liz and Connie, who, I assume, were having a latte at the Starbucks! Christina, Eloisa, Lisa (does she have a new compiliation out?) and Teresa were all there on the rack, side by side, chatting away! Nice to find it all there!
I know I’m supposed to talk about books but I got distracted by those very cute dogs and the SNOW!
There weather is crazy here, hot one day cold the next. And I have never seen snow before! Well, once but its one the ground…
My Wal-Mart doesn’t have it yet. The little buggers… but I will have a copy the moment it does! I can’t wait to read Sorcha’s story.
I would LOVE to have some snow like this! I’m just guessing but we probably only get on average about 4-6 inches of snow at a time where I live in KY (and that may be a little high). We had 24 inches a couple of years ago—which was awesome! I don’t like a lot of snow all winter, but a couple of good snows to make it feel like winter and to give the kids a chance for some good sleigh riding and snowman building are great.
Your dogs are beautiful. My boxer loves the snow. He prances around in it, biting at it. It’s funny to watch.
I want snow too. We had 20°C till last week in Germany.
But hey, I can wait for my white Christmas.
Julia
I love hearing where you all are from! It gives me a sense of place for your names.
And thank you, everyone, for the reports. Sherry, may your hunt be fruitful.
Last night, it was 21 and we had a blizzard, then in the middle of the night I woke up, it was still, no rain, and it was 39. this morning it’s 30 and we’re supposed to get up to 40. Amazing!
And we’re sending it onnnnnn to you!
It’s finals week for me...and although I haven’t read anything other than the arc Christina sent me, I have somehow still managed to box myself in with an assignment due each day up until the end of next week.
However, the first chance I get, I’m going to place my online order for the two books. Yes, I need another copy of TPKAB.
It’s been unusually warm here, which is kind of freaky. Normally, we’d have had our first snow in Boston already. But it’s currently 69 degrees…
aaaawwwww!!!!
Christina, i am sooo envious
here in zaragoza (spain) it snows once a year. if i am lucky. and since i will only go home to norway for two weeks in christmas, all my wishes are for snow at that time.
sight. an i will by your book, and that of eloisa as well, only i have to wait until february (on a tight student-budget) and hope that amazon.co.uk will have some books left in stock…
sniffle. i get homesick looking at your photos…
I stopped off at B&N in Birmingham, AL, on my way home from work tonight, and got both TPKAB and PFP. They had four copies of each in the romance section and two each on the recent release display nearer the front of the store, in the center of the aisle. The displays hold 4 copies of each book, and most of the other books had four displayed, so I am assuming that two each of yours and Eloisa’s books at least had sold, before I bought mine. And they may have already restocked it!
In the Romance section, they had TPKAB shelved with just its spine showing, and TIHH shelved facing out. I switched them (I have a habit of rearranging books in bookstores) so TPKAB faced out. It’s a very eyecatching cover!
I haven’t had a chance to get to a bookstore either, because I live a ferry boat ride away from Seattle and we’re on our third day of school closure now! (For those of you not from the area, this is unheard of around here) And we’re expecting snow again this afternoon. Thanksgiving weekend has turned into a week. I’ll be surprised if the kids go to school at all this week.
I dug out the Christmas DVDs. The kids are watching Rudolph right now and cutting out snowflakes. I’m FINALLY getting to read some books I picked up at nationals in Atlanta. Not a bad week, really, but I didn’t arrive in Seattle on Monday night and then have to drive north. That must have been AWFUL. Please tell me you got a hotel room.
Rachel, who is off to refill her mug of hot chocolate.
