I really wanted to say Cowboy/Rancher, but the question stated “auto-buy”.  I love stories about governesses.

Did you mean for us to only pick one? Because there are several on that list that are autobuys for me. And others that are auto-not-buys! Then some that are auto-maybes… (Is that a real category?)

I redid the poll—you can vote for as many as you want now, and I think if even if you voted you can vote again. Check it out!

I’d love to see a poll also on what story lines are ‘auto-avoids’! (Secret baby and sheik for me)

I’m pretty sure my answers were all the same.  New to the list for me was the cowboy/rancher storyline and the doctor/nurse but only if they are in Western historicals. I’ve been filling up on them lately.  Mary Burton, Jodi Thomas, Kate Bridges and Lynna Banning have been keeping wonderfully entertained.  Adding to that list our own Gerralyn and Sue.

Yes, to governesses Prudence.

I’ve never been one for secretary and bosses, shieks, abduction and secret babies.  Sorry guys.  And the virgin heroine is redundant, don’t ya think.

I love polls.

FYI, a banner appeared saying I won the daily prize and I thought EXCELLENT it’s an ARC!  It was an ad for a laptop.....YUK!

Santa, have you tried Linda Lael Miller?  I’m finding that I really like her books. Especially the old western romances.  grin

I am a sucker for best friends falling in love. I also have a soft spot for stories where the heroine runs into her brother’s best friend (you know the one she always had a crush on but never told him) years later and he discovers that the annoying kid sister who followed them around is all grown up now.

So far the Prince/duke/rake and bluestocking/governess/commoner is the winner with 11% and 44 votes, and the losers with 1% are Amnesia, Secret Baby and Doctor and Nurse. But Virgin Heroine is doing just fine with 24 votes and 6%. Very interesting! big surprise

I also love a story line where the man who treats his woman like dirt goes away and comes back.  But now he is charming and loving and you wonder throughout the book is it him or an imposter.

Lisa Kleypas’ book Stranger in my Arms was like that as was the movie Somersby with Richard Gere and Jody Foster.  Those are both so romantic to me.

Oo, oo, Lisa! Read LOST IN YOUR ARMS by moi! It’s also Somersby-esque, and I think one of the best book I ever wrote!

Christina,

I love your books as well.  Of course I started by reading your lost princess series and LOVED it.  But I will hurry to read Lost in Your Arms next.

Thank you for the recommendation!

I have almost finished all of Susan Elizabeth Phillips books.  I am enjoying the “Stars Football” series.  Hot, Rich, Smart, Football Player falls in love with your average girl.  I guess it is honestly the Ciderella story retold.

I find that I rarely even consider the storylines. I do have my favorites but the storyline rarely makes it an autobuy for me.  It’s the author. That’s it.

The endorsement/reviews, and recommendations from others who know my tastes are the second factor. If I based my buys on storylines, I would never have tried JRWard, for example. Or Marsha Moyer. Whom are both autobuy authors now. And think what all I would have missed!!

Lately, I don’t even read the back cover synopsis. I like going in to the first page completely oblivious to names, circumstances, everything. I know, I’m in a tiny minority probably...... rolleyes
