Connie Brockway, The Cure for Cool

She’s the girl who comes back to town broke and desperate. And all the former cool girls dump wine on her and generally treat her like shit, right?
It’s books like this one that make me wonder about whether I should be going back to my high school reunion in August....

That picture is precisely why you are cool...you don’t give a rip. You’d rather loll on a bench than let what other paople MIGHT think inhibit you.
Your kids might think you’re a dork, mine do me, but that’s our lot as parents--instant admission to dorkhood.
But now, as an adult with a mature definition of what’s cool....you’re Elvis.

I keep thinking of Susan Elizabeth Phillip’s book, Ain’t She Sweet.. talk about going backwards for that heroine~!
