Elizabeth on her Weekend Life

Hi, Debbie. Here’s the thing about Thunder. Even though my husband and I both grew up in Louisville, we’d never been to Thunder. We, too, abhor the crowds and always watch it on TV. And the ONE YEAR we FINALLY decide to go, it’s the COLDEST year in the history of the event. And, AND, we decided to foot the bill for a hotel overnight, just so we wouldn’t have to battle the traffic, and it’s the ONE YEAR when traffic isn’t a problem, because the crowd is like 1/3 what it usually is.
On the up side, the wine vendor was pouring decent wine, so we had one of those nice false heats going. Still, it was pretty !@#$&#xin;g cold.
Hi again. Elizabeth. At least you can say you went to Thunder once and it was definitely memorable, even if it was freezing. lol It’s a wonder you even found a hotel room. You sure wouldn’t closer to derby unless you reserve way way ahead of time. They even come stay at Radcliff and Elizabethtown just to get a room.
I lived in L-ville one year when I was growing up. That’s where my step-dad is from. Was really glad when we moved to the country. lol
Well, Debbie, we made the hotel reservation months ago, and as it was got the last room (a really, really tiny one, I might add). And I can also say I’ve been to the Derby. Once. In college. In the infield with a lot of my drunken friends. I saw roughly a nanosecond of the Derby, off in the distance between two guys who were polite enough to sway drunkenly to the left and right very briefly so I could get a glimpse. Great race.
Elizabeth, who also lives in the country, but to the north of the city.
Hi Elizabeth. Hope you enjoyed Thunder even if it was freezing. I am in KY too, about 45 miles south of Louisville. I love people but just not that many all at once and you couldn’t pay my hubby to fight all the traffic for Thunder or any of the Derby activities. lol Hope you have fun in whatever you do!
