Eloisa,

I feel your pain. I truly do. You know when you are hanging out and everyone starts telling these great H.S. stories, sighing “those were the good old days. What I wouldn’t do to go back.” I just sit there and cringe. You couldn’t pay me to relive those days and I had a boyfriend. (no my husband) But ACK! No way, no how.

Who wrote FAT GIRL. I would love to check it out.

FWIW, I find you very approachable AND funny as all get out.

Hi guys - love the blog, BTW...but I just had to laugh, Eloisa, at your description of the guy who took you to the prom coming out later in life.  My first “boyfriend” (7th grade) came out just after high school (I should have realized when it took him six months to even kiss me, *g*) - and one of my best male friends in junior high/middle school did the same.  Naturally, both of these guys were into the theater, as was I.

I was definitely not a cool girl - I was friends with many and involved in a good number of activities, etc - but not considered cool.  And Connie, I was the editor in chief of my school newspaper too, LOL.

Except for junior high, I never actually dated anyone from my own school.  I finally managed to get a boyfriend the second half of my senior year, and he was a guy from the local Catholic school, who I met at the rollerskating rink - and we’re talking 1984, when rollerskating was *definitely* not very cool, LOL.

Ah, well - just wanted to pop in and say hello to you all.  I’ve been having a fabulous time reading your posts! smile

While I can’t completely sympathize with you Eloisa (I just ignored high school and kept my eye on the prize: college) I know a lot of people went through something similar.  One of the big movies we latched onto was “Pump up the Volume” by Christian Slater that detailed the Hell that was High School.  As for Fat Girl, I’ve heard rave reviews, glad you liked it!
