Any excuse to read Wilkie Collins is a good thing, right?

I do! I crack open my Judy Cuevas(though I feel so unworthy because she’s so darn talented) to see her descriptions whenever I get stuck. *G*

If you want romance (sort of) from a male point of view (early 1900’s) try PG Wodehouse almost all of his books involves a romance or two!

I love PG Wodehouse.  For clever conversation—as a model—you can’t get better.  The only problem is that his young men are awfully fey.  Even gay.  They do sort of fall in love, but one has to wonder how it’s going to go…

Bertie Wooster? Gay? Perish the thought. Recall that he is continually fascinated by women’s profiles.
Barmy Fotheringay-Phipps on the other hand.

If I look at other writers’ books when I’m working, I get depressed. I picked up an Edith Layton gaslight set in NYC (like mine) hoping for a glimpse of the city --and she was way too good.
