KITTY ASKS CONNIE BROCKWAY, “WHERE’s THE LOVE?”

YES, YES, MEEEEEE!  And here’s what I have to say.....

You know what it feels like to get snowed in?  When the first broadcaster announces feet and feet of snow and suddenly you feel like cooking comfort foods, hotdishes most likely?  THAT’s exactly what it feels like to read this book--to snuggle deep down in front of the fire under warm, soft blankets…and to laugh.

Hot Dish is chock full of incredibly original, hilarious plot twists and characters--a twenty year old butter head is held for ransom people.  A blackmailer is in full body cast, people.

And Lisa’s right, Connie does have “round” secondary characters.  To give you an example of old Hilda Soderberg, Connie describes one eyes as the “color of used rinse water.” I mean, come on!  You know THAT lady, or one like her!  She makes tater tot hotdishes and pokes people in the sternums with her bony finger when they don’t behave correctly.

It’s got everything really—romance, suspense, romance, and incredibly heart-touching moments that creep up at every turn.

Hot Dish is a find yourself and find love kind of book.  It’s about real people with real lives in really STRANGE circumstances.

I think it would be a perfect original TV movie.

Me, me, me, me, I read it last week and the Hero is definitely HOT. Just as hot as Christina’s-Count Roberto.  I agree with J. Perry in I would to see this as a Lifetime Movie.

I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but I scared the Andersen rep half to death at my local Wal-Mart on Tuesday when I rushed in and started squealing, “There it is!  There it is!!!”

Unfortunately, I haven’t read the book so far, because Amazon Germany cancelled my order again. I added it to my tbb listf for the next US trip

I was just going to say that I picked up a copy of Hot Dish and read it in a night. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I thought it would be more slapsticky but is much more I guess I would say adult in the way it portrays the characters and yet none of the characters start out really what I’d call mature. I mean they aren’t juvenile or acting in a childish fashion at all but they’re like you and me. They have blind spots about themselves. But how can you call a book that has a kidnapped butter head adult? But I do! That’s what great about Connie’s book and what had me LMAO! It’s a combination of of dry humor and outrageous circumstances and adult characters.

There’s a lot of characters in the book and they all have a part even though they might not even meet one another. It’s sort of like one of those English mob movies like lock stock, and smoking barrel but without the violence and set in a small town. Okay. I give up. I really can’t recomend this book enough.

And the poster above me is right. The hero is HOT!

I really want to, but I’ve got an “open memo” due next week and then my first law school exam in 3 weeks. So unfortunately Hot Dish and The Prince Kidnaps a Bride will have to wait until winter break :(
