WOW, Kitty. I think you might have just taken Joan Rivers job right out from under her. Awesome reporting job! What would we do without you?

And I do have to agree with you. The Oscar’s were very boring.

Kitty, I completely agree with your comments.  That jacket that Jennifer Hudson wore looked like a cheap costume from a Buck Rogers episode.  At least she took it off before she accepted her award!

Helen Mirren looked every inch The Queen--lovely and elegant.  The highlight of the evening was Forrest Whitaker’s acceptance speech for Best Actor--humble, inspirational and completely classy.

I had planned to watch, taped Amazing Race and Without a Trace but son saw VanHelsing (Hugh Jackman) was on and the Oscars went by the wayside.  After hearing the reviews I didn’t miss much.

Glad I didn’t miss Hugh too.

Kitty:

Lovely job by the way.  I was also wondering about the pockets in the gown.  Don’t think I have ever seen that before.

Now now Kitty, you’re starting to sound like that guy from Entertainment Tonight...what’s his name Kojo, Cujo????

Anyway, I usually can’t stay up to watch the shows, (past my bedtime.) But I did catch some of the red carpet stuff.  The dresses are always so different.  To me, it’s not the style, it’s the color they pick.  Some of the ladies looked so washed out.

I thought Jennifer’s dress was gorgeous, but would not have chosen that wrap/jacket.

And did you pay attention to the facial expressions of the people behind the red velvet rope?

I don’t usually watch the Oscars, but the boyfriend wanted to, so I did too.  I pretty much agree with Kitty on the fashions - Nicole’s dress would’ve been so pretty without the bow.  I did kinda like Beyonce’s dress (though I don’t care for her much).

Penelope Cruz - the bodice of the dress was gorgeous, but what was up with the skirt?  It was hideous IMHO.

Wicked! Wicked! WICKED KITTY. I love it!
Especially the parrot. Did you do that?

Anyway, thanks for making all my co-workers show up at my cubicle to see why I was choking!

Bar har har!  We’ve missed you and you excoriating wit, Kitty!

I agree that Helen Mirren’s dress was absolutely gorgeous and that Meryl Streep (who swore she was wearing Prada) looked like she’d stumbled out of a Birkenstock ad.  (What was that necklace?  A giant plastic crab?  I was afraid it was going to scuttle up her neck and pluck her eyes out with its scary claws.)

Helen Mirren showed everyone what an adult actress/lady should look and act like, she stole the show in everyway, even from the 20 somethings in the skimpy no-dresses!
I love Meryl, I guess you just stop trying, sometimes…

Kitty!! What’s with the cowboy hat?  I know you thought it was the CMA Awards.  Sorry, no Tim McGraw for you!

But I must say I’ve never seen you look so....so......um....devastatingly, well, devastating!

I didn’t catch the Oscars but I find it fascinating that their stylists, dressers, make-up people let them go out in public like that!  What were they thinking!

BTW, there’s a Miss Kitty impersonator from the Village who wants his “Miss Kitty Gone Bad” costume back!

Kitty, I expect to see you on Entertainment Tonight soon. Great job!

Boring seems to be the general response. As for the fashion report, I thought Reese looked great, as did Cate and Kate. And Helen Mirren was a class act all the way.

Loved Rachel Weisz(sp?) dress. Gorgeous.
Gotta agree on Reese, Cate, Kate and Helen. Beautiful and classy.

I loved Reese’s dress, but for pete’s sake, girl! Eat a burger! She was way, way too thin.

And I loved the show. I thought Ellen was funny, I loved the silhouetted tumblers who got together and became Oscar or the stiletto from DEVIL WORE PRADA or whatever, and I loved the sound effects chorus.

Of course, as always, I muted the thank you speeches.  tongue wink

I have to confess I thought it was kind of boring too.  I like Ellen. She’s very pleasant.  But I still miss Bob Hope.

OMG, you just took most of the words right out of my mouth.  I was watching the pre-show on E! and half the time they were saying how lovely so and so looked and I was like ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!  They did comment on Jennifer Hudson’s “space bolo” and I was hoping they would get Seacrest to mention it to her in hopes she would take the hideous thing off.  And again..whats with the pockets?  I noticed they were doing it a couple of years ago too and then it seemed to go out...too bad it didn’t stay out (Oh yeah, Sandra Bullock did that the year she was promoting “The Lake House”!) Anyhow...great story!!  I was LMAO!

I thought Kate Winslet looked DIVINE!

(GREAT commentary, btw :D)

The biggest thing that floored me during the Oscars was that Jennifer Hudson got a kiss from THE GEORGE CLOONEY and it didn’t even register with her that THE GEORGE CLOONEY kissed her!  I’m sure she was overwhelmed by her win BUT it was THE GEORGE CLOONEY!!

If it had been me--I would have grabbed hold of GEORGE and not let him go and given him BUNCHES of kisses as I gave my thank you speech.  I might have just forgotten about the speech and gone for the kisses!!

One day that girl is gonna smack herself upside the head for such a missed opportunity!  I know I’m smacking her! “wink

PS Excellent reporting Miss Kitty! MEOW! “wink

Priceless and very accurate descriptions. I’m particularly fond of the parrot on Nicole’s shoulder. I’m surprised there were no comments on Kristen Dunst’s dress with the peter pan collar. Hideous. Love Cate Blanchet and Kate Winslet!

I Tivo’d the awards because the last hour is past my bedtime and as always, it ran over the time it was scheduled and I missed the end. But I did see the red carpet and that was the important part.

The Jane Goodall comment was priceless!! As was the macaw on Nicole Kidman’s shoulder.

Kitty, Penelope Cruz was the Bjork stand-in. She just forgot to bring the head and beak that she’s supposed to sling over one arm.

Helen Mirren was regal and beautiful.

It’s probably just me, but I think Nicole Kidman always looks like she’s stoned, or shell shocked or SOMETHING. Maybe it’s from being married to Tom.

Ann in IL, I think Nicole’s problem is waaaaayyyy too much botox.  She can’t emote anymore.

I was also surprised that Jennifer Hudson walked away from George Clooney - did you see he practically had to chase her down to give her the envelope?  While George isn’t my favorite leading man, I think they still would’ve had to pry me away from him....

Someone else I thought looked great was Jodi Foster.  That dress was wonderful on her and I loved her hair - I wish I could get my hair to look like that.

Rachel Weisz’s dress was beautiful too. Only too bad it ws the same colour as the dress worn by the lady who brings in the awards.

Jane Goodall!  I knew I recognized her from somewhere.  Prada?  Maybe.  Eveningwear? Not.

Mich,
You are so right about the George Clooney incident. She is going to be so sorry.
