Love gone, love returned

Christmastime delights

Okay...tounge firmly placed in cheek:
Dog poop barbie?
No I won’t!
Cat pee barbie?
Is she crazy?
Roboraptor? $100?
Ah, Mermaid doll!
I will buy!
Broken toys on Boxing Day!
Running! Wrap faster!
Oh, when will I remember
it’s about His birth?
driving down the road
twinkling Christmas lights, nice
more, more lights, please mom
I’m starting to get excited! Yippee!!
Wrapping packages
places them under the tree
for the children’s delight to see
children pick them
give them a quick little shake
hear the rattle that tells them it is a toy
Mistletoe and Holly hung,
Turkey smells so good…
Thank You family for love
Candy canes and lifesavers
The stockings are hung
Fruit is not for stockings this year
Abercrombie and Fitch who?
The expense of clothes
What happened to Target?
Ipods, Music, CDs too
The silence that comes
After the gifts are opened.
Our Charlie Brown tree
tied to the ceiling with care
still bare of presents
Christmas caroling
hot chocolate tastes so good
and warms our cold hands
the star in the east
lights the way to the manger
there lays Holy Child
family together
reading the first Christmas story
a wonderful time.
ROFL . . . the line “What happened to Target?” just KILLED me!

Poultry in Motion
Haiku part the first-digress from the preparations:
Nothing to wrap
No cookies to eat
dusty trimmings sit in empty flour covered kitchens
stay tuned for part the second and third as I pretend to shop and bake today… or maybe wait till saturday???
I am flying home
friday, evening, happy me
what will I do then?
eat hot dog, chocklate
first thing first, some nourishment
hello mom, dad, bro’s!
call friends, talk, laugh, cry?
long time no see, more chocklate
reading loved books
but it’s not all good
I left behind Alfonso
miss him already
more chocklate helps some
after all, just two weeks, then:
back again with love
hope the holidays
be what you all wish and need
sit down! breathe out! live!
Enter the anti-materialist, with apologies to those in the Spirit.
Our acquisitions:
Less precious than our substance.
Gift the inner child.
Frightened by greed and frenzy!
Give me just one orange.
Christmas drowns in stuff.

Lock the office door
Cookies call me from the hall
Receptionist’s desk
Dare I pass the box?
It it safe to take a break
and visit the loo?
Trey just informed me
extra party Saturday
in our cozy home
Christmas Eve Eve nine
friends, family, games, and pizza
no cooking, yippie
headaches with Houston traffic
rows and rows of cars
go nowhere
the bonus of free shipping
online shopping makes me smile
in my pajamas
the truck is packed
excitement seems to diffuse
a 3am drive home
Be safe everyone!
Holidays dream, too
of joy and renewal, still:
snow is sadly missed

“hope the holidays

I looooooooove that last line! Also, the whole piece was very romantic!
Rush rush,
wrap galore
bouncing accounts
tummies full
love and peace
christmas cheer
OMG, you are all so good. I could never get one together.
Martha Stewart Room
My ribbons don’t match my bows
Papercuts galore
To the post office
Standing in a line a mile long
I SO need a drink
This is in praise of my children’s efforts with the tree this year.
Christmas tree is leaning
Red balls swing to the right
This years is the best
spending time with the family and resting
Bar har har! You guys are slaying me!
Just one more trip to Wal-Mart
SEINFELD 7 sold out!
Cutting wrists with pretty bow
Can’t do the Haiku thing...so here’s nothing
Shops, wrapping, food
Sales, last one, broken promises
Lights, snow, song
Remember the Reason
Honor the Spirit
Hold dear the Joy
O.K., I’m not even going to try to write one, but I love reading them - thanks for a great blog today!
Bun in the oven
Three babies on the carpet
I’m out of my mind
No more shopping now
my slumped shoulders droop down
candy canes hold up eyes
Parents are coming here
must make sure toilet paper stocked
the prune juice as well
No snow on Christmas
time to chug the eggnog down
looks like snow inside
My Christmas angels--
one hundred and thirty-two--
whisper memories.
The sounds of Christmas:
children laughing, choirs singing,
angels’ song resounds.
Season of wonder,
deep peace, unfaltering joy,
transform weary hearts.
An old love story:
worlds of suffering and fear,
fear not--good tidings--joy!
Happy Holidays
to roost-rulers and chickadees!
Happy New Yeaer too!
Sending Janelle a virtual nanny for the holiday season and after....
One-year-old’s wisdom:
choose gifts by tasting paper
Santa’s taste the best.
Six-year-old’s wish list:
Each thing she sees on TV
But too bad for her.
My Husband’s wrapping
He says is good, but I read
“Welcome to Wal-Mart”
Santa, reindeer, trees
Xmas spirit in the air
Cookies in the oven
Lights, bulbs hang on tree
Needles and tinsel all around
Where is my Xmas elf?
Angel spots Janelle,
Laughs long, loud, maniacally.
Early Christmas present.
Neil Sedaka weeps.
Poultry in motion from Mike
Ruins his career.
Please make me stop.
Haiku is too addictive.
Boss will see and fire.
Ah, control47 is my code word. Must take.
ok...my attempts…
Mary, exhausted, but smiling
Baby Jesus sleeps
Joseph nearby, keeping watch
Our Nativity set is
Old, very well loved
Place of honor under tree
*****
Gift shopping is now over
I sigh with relief
Wait…forgot Auntie Edna!
*****
Once bare but now sparkling
Girls smile at the sight
Surprise for mom coming home
Got out lights, ornaments too
Check off the list
Chore done, just sit and enjoy!
(the last is for my 13 yo and 17 yo daughters, who on their on initiative decorated the tree and put up our outdoor lights, so I wouldn’t have to)
LOL, Janelle wins!!!!!!!
Here is my little contribution:
Christmas, time to share
Love flowing, healing sorrows
Friends and family
Cheers,
Eloise
Wrap presents
Gussy up
No cooking to do
Over to sister’s
Eat, Drink and Be Merry
Oh lucky me
Here goes:
The season is here
Go spread good cheer all around
Today and always
Write poetry, Squawkers? (It was Christina’s idea.) I think everyone knows it’s NOT one of my talents, despite being a Quill. But here goes:
I can haiku.
Can you?
Happy Holidays all!
Suzanne
holiday cheer
wipes away sadness
spice and cedar rule
These are all great. You all are so clever!
Thanks for the smiles today!
School’s not over yet
Will go nuts cause I have to
Teach until Friday
Not Haiku, but poetry nonetheless:
Twas three days before Christmas break
And all through the school
All the students were stirring
And breaking the rules
The students were bouncing off of the walls
With visions of two weeks off they were dancing in the halls
And I with my textbook, my chalk and my map,
Wanted nothing more than to settle down for a long winter’s nap
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone
Santa in the eisle
Lists in hand
What am I getting everyone again?
Jenn shops high end
Chris sports sports
Why is it such a chore?
Hand over Visa
Santa?
Yes.
Really?
YES!
Well, that’s different.
(inner sigh)Thanks.
HaaiiiiiKU!
Bless You!
Thank You.
Sorry, I couldnt’ resist!
Holiday Haikus
Ultra-sappiness abounds
Bah Humbug says I
Spun sugar cookies
Faerie Wings and Plum Puddings
Give me cavities
Call me Grinch or Scrooge
Whilst you groan out those Carols
In Yuletide Spirits
Endless snaking lines
Waiting for Nintendo Wii
Liz snatched the last one
Crushed my eBay plans
Now Tiny Tim must limp on
Minus those crutches
Just wait till next year
Till then Happy Holidays
Bless us, Every One!

Sorry. Went into Haiku trance-state. Must stop or no sleep tonight. Adverbs! Pronouns! Full sentences!
Mike
Aw, just one more. Rap it loud and proud, Grover-style, yo.
Haiku structure style
Mangling syntax is fun, hmph?
Like Yoda it is
Bleary red-rimmed eyes
Sixty Christmas cards en route
I can now relax

Sixty Christmas cards?

As she types more names

Decorations up
Glittery specks on the floor
A vacuum abhorred.
Fingers stuck in tape
Ragged edges on paper
I’m wrapping impaired
Yes, I’m into this.
Lisa, you are a vixen.
Haikus are my curse.
All day at my job
random idiocy springs
to my sorry mind.
Oh, Christmas Challenge!
Must I smile enduringly
at drunken grandpa?
Prime rib and champagne,
plates full of delicacies.
Alka-Seltzer, please.
Another necktie?
Strangle me with prediction.
I prefer gift cards.
Dreams of Santa Claus.
Wicked prevarication.
Poor deluded kids.
Come January
we’ll all be in the poorhouse.
Charge cards are evil.
