Also, I have to tell you guys… I just got off of my short interview with a local radio station… TK 99.5 for anyone in the CNY area… Gomez and Dave are really funny… I have to start listening to their morning show.

and they said that Leslie and I were on the front page of the Post-Standard this morning (the paper here in Syracuse...)

and great news for SR....

SquawkRadio.com and Eloisa James are both listed in the article!

So, maybe new people will stop by today :O)~!

Laura,

If you haven’t seen a copy of the Post-Standard’s front page yet, you can see it online at http://www.syracuse.com/poststandard/pageone/pdf/wed-a.pdf. You can also read the article at: http://www.syracuse.com/cny/poststandard/index.ssf?/base/living-2/1165399959208570.xml&coll=1 .

My favorite day time show is ELLEN.  I just adore her.  She is a wonderful comedian because her act is totally clean.  She is one of the few comedians(Sinbad, Louie Anderson) that don’t use curses in their acts.

To me, Ellen is such a caring and giving person. She really loves her fellow man. I am glad to see a celebrity use her star power to make others aware of people, children and animals in need.  My sister and I have tried, for 3 years in a row, to get tickets to her NY shows without any luck but we are going to keep on trying.

grin If I could go on any show on Tv I would go on Animal Police.  I love that show and would love to spend time with the crew and at the ASPCA with the animals.
Also I would love to find out what happens to those that they take to court.  Some of the shows tell you what happens in court and some do not.

Laura T! I just knew you were nice! You look adorable in Aunt Caroline’s sweater and what a hoot to read your blog. I suspect you’re a bit of the Pollyanna Wolverine type yourself.
Thank you and all the authors and squawkers who make this world a better place. Well done, you!

Woo-hoo, Laura!

You look absolutely beautiful--in fact, you ALL look beautiful. It really makes my holiday bright, knowing that not only are there wonderful people out with such generous and loving impulses but that occassionally they get a little recognition. LOVED the blog, too!

You know who else really rocked in the whole Christmas extravaganza last year? Our darlin’ ELIZABETH BEVARLY. Talk about behind the scenes! the auction on ebay was a buttload of work and by herself she made that happen.

And Eloisa? She’s amazing. She acted as the clearing house for the entire deal!

Then there’s the rest of us… who… well…

Aren’t Laura T and Elizabeth and Eloisa great?

Now, tell me all about Rachel Ray. What did she cook for you? Can’t wait to hear about your day with Eloisa. What fun!

hmm, show I’d like to be on? Rachel Ray if she’d cook for me. Otherwise Craig Ferguson. He’s a dollwink

I loved reading your blog, Laura! You sound so happy and excited! And I can’t wait to see the show.

And please, let me add to Connie’s praise for Elizabeth Bevarly! The huge amount of work she did (those of you who were here at Squawk last year remember) collected a LOT of money for Leslie. (I hope Liz can come in with the amount!)

Also, we need to thank the many, many authors who contributed to the Ebay auction by taking the time out of their busy days to autograph books and advanced reading copies and mail them to the winners of the auction.

And the readers who bid! Bless you all!

It was truly a whole romance community moment, and I’ve never been prouder to be part of a great group of women and writers.

This is SO incredibly exciting, Laura! I have TiVo all set to go, but will be glued to the TV tomorrow to watch you guys. You and Leslie look fabu!

I love “Ellen,” too, Elsie. For a while there, I was always at the gym in the afternoons when she was on, and I’d take my headphones and plug them into the treadmill in front of the TV banks. She’s so funny.

Thanks for the link, Erin!

And thanks for the shout out, Connie. ‘Twas a labor of love.  smile

Xposted with you, Xtina.

We raised just over $6000 for Leslie with the auction. I can go back and check figures, but there were hundreds of books and ARCs donated by scores of authors. It was awesome, the amount of people who came together for this. I, too, send out a HUGE thanks to all the authors and readers involved. You guys are amazing!

Just went back and checked figures. I was a tad overzealous. (A not uncommon condition for me.) According to a post at the old SR site, we had a total of 100 items up for bids, donated by 38 authors and 4 Squawk Radio readers. The total number of bids for those items was 1,493, and the final total for money raised for Leslie and her family was $6,248.64.

Thanks again to everyone who donated and/or bid on items.

Elizabeth,

Aside from the raising money part and why… there were some of the most fabulous items up for bid during that auction…

I think the pure uniqueness and creativity that went into the planning of that was so amazing. I am so glad everything came together and that you guys brought Leslie’s story into our hearts. It is what started this whole journey and kept her in my thoughts when I emailed Rachael Ray about it. The way everyone here rallied around to help her out!

It was fabulous meeting Leslie as well & I am so lucky I got to meet her. Such a stong and caring woman. I felt like she was a long lost friend when I first saw her, and I know you all would have felt the same way.

Anyway, you guys are the best.. I remember one of the items up for bid was Janet Evanovich’s signed book… and I know there were other amazing things.. complete signed collections of books and so on…

It’s so much fun to read this blog, Laura---you are a joyous, love-filled, enthusiastic bundle of energy...and you look pretty cute too! Congratualtions on getting the recognition you deserve, and congrats to the other eminent Squawkers and Squawkettes for raising so much money.

If I could go on any show, I’d want to go on BBC’s Cash in the Attic, where they’d discover all my dented silver and chipped dishes were worth so much $$ my husband and I could retire!

There were wonderful items up for bid and Liz worked so hard on that auction.  I was the winning bidder on a great package donated by Victoria Alexander (one of my fav authors) and had such fun putting together a Christmas package of goodies to ship to Leslie and her family.  So many people came together to help with Liz, Eloisa and Laura the shining lights leading the way.  Laura, my vcr is ready to record and I’ll be watching too. I am so glad you had this opportunity.

I’d love to be on either Ellen or Rachel Ray.  Love them both!

OK, this is pretty darn cool. I’m super-impressed you all managed to pull such an incredible feat off! And as a Category 5 hurricane survivor myself, I can honestly say that a Christmas provided by strangers is the sweetest kind of Christmas of all.

I only hope you didn’t include 10 sweaters in the box. I clearly recall my family receiving sweaters from well-meaning folk...who obviously thought Miami and cold belonged in the same sentence!

LIZ!!  Great job!  Got my Elizabeth Boyle ARC of ‘This Rake Of Mine’ (Delish!) from that auction!  These Squawkers are AMAZING!  You guys all know about how generous they were for my brothers fundraiser these past two years, both the Squawker here and other romance authors.

What a truly amazing group of people they are!!

I’ll be a deli diva tomorrow and will miss the show (no TiVo) but I will look for rebroadcasts.  If she does anything on-line, please let me know!

And you looked AMAZING in that color, Laura!

Also, I got a kick out of hearing you laugh.  I know your type-written words, but to actually hear your voice was a great treat.

If I could go on any show, I’d go to on Oprah’s favorite things show.
