Beware Lisa’s SUGAR DADDY Hogging Up a Slot on the NEW YORK TIMES!!!

I just wanted to say that I loved it too. I’m an ardent fan of her historicals and admit to some trepidation when I heard she was going to release a contemporary. (I’ve lost so many of my favourite historical authors to such moves, rarely enjoying their new fare.) I was relieved that this move didn’t mean a halt of the historicals and so I decided to give it a try.
Then I heard of the title and I had even more misgivings. (Oh no, what is it going to be about? It can’t *really* be about..that.)
I bought it, it sat on my shelf for a few days. Finally I decided to give it a try and I lost a lot of hours to sleep over it too. I loved it, I loved it, I loved it. I loved all of the affectionate descriptions of Texas life. Liberty was such a great character, who felt very real, very normal, but so caring and tenacious; and I think it worked so well for me because it was in first person.
I’m so glad it’s turning out to be a success. You deserve it.
(I’m sorry this is so long. Usually I post my feedback on a message board but I’ll be darned if I know what or where it is now.)
Ever since I saw the striking cover art I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled hopefully in… Wal-Mart. Sigh. I live forty-five minutes from the biggest college city in the state and there is not one single bookstore in this town (pop. 15,000). Sob.
Congratulations, Lisa, you big star! There was never a doubt!
I was going to wait to get this book but I picked up the leaflet with excerpts while at Borders the other day and decided to heck with waiting for it to come out in paperback. I can’t wait to read it. It’s going to be my airplane book on Saturday as I fly home for spring break. And where is home? Houston area. Very appropriate reading material.
Lisa:
Time for a septor to go with that tiara.
Add some pixie dust and fireworks.
Big hugs and kisses, you must be so excited.
Great job, Lisa! It must feel really wonderful to try something new and have it this well received. I was thrilled to receive SUGAR DADDY in the Valentine’s day box and can’t wait to read it. I’ve read so many rave reviews!
Christina - I saw a copy of TONGUE IN CHIC on someone’s desk today. We both raved about it and TIHH.
Carolyn ... cool! Thank you!
Of course, I have yet to see anyone reading one of my books ...
Lisa.. I am dyying to read this! Now I can’t wait even more!
you guys are killing me. I have got to go book shopping!!!
apparently I need 19 books… well, if the word varification said it must be so.
Christina, apparently that’s because everyone’s given up on you this year. Ha ha, I’m going to hide behind my well-loved and well-worn copy of Lost In Your Arms now, in case you decide to throw something in my general direction.
Congrats, Lisa!!
I haven’t gotten it yet. I’m waiting til I go to NJ next week but I saw it in B&N displayed on the first table as you walk in and I thought, good I won’t have to rearrange anything today. I couldn’t just walk by it, so I picked it up and got several pages in and just sighed and forced myself to put it back on the shelf.
Fear not, Christina. I have TIC in hand. Left B&N, wrote like a madwoman and rewarded myself by taking it off my TBR pile. That’s why I’m reading TIC now.
I’ve got a LOT to write before I read Lisa’s.
Congrats, mazel tov and auguri, once again!
It’s wonderful, Lisa sweetie—you deserve every blissful moment of NYT starlight!
OK, I mixed my metaphors a little there…
Eloisa
A great big congrats to you, Lisa! I plan on reading Sugar Daddy when we go on vacation next week--can’t wait. I’m sure I’ll love it as much as I have all of your other books.
Congratulations, Lisa!! There was never any doubt.

Congratulations Lisa! And just so you know, I’ve used my “influence” as the part time librarian at Ravena Public Library to make sure we order a copy of SUGAR DADDY. We intend to display it prominently!
My log in is Lot49—Thomas Pyncheon, anyone?
We’re so happy for you, Lisa! It couldn’t happen to a nicer gal or a better book
Christina, you haven’t seen anyone reading your books because we think we’ll read just a little bit before bed and then we stay awake and finish them - so they never make it out of the house!
Way to go Lisa!
CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS!!!!!
I was like Alice, I usually wait for paperback, but the cover was so bright it hypnotized me and lured me over to it and then I had to have it...I was supposed to clean the house the day I started it, and until that book was finished, not a thing got cleaned except my lunch plate
It was FANTASTIC!! I loved it so very much and it is right now residing in my place of the highest honor on my bookshelf, at least until another squawker book comes out
Thank you for a wonderful read!!!!!
I finished the book in one night. Only unfortunate thing was that I had to go to work the next day…
It was a wonderful book!
I know I am a little behind, but just wanted to say I am now really looking forward to reading this book. I missed my opportunity to see Lisa in person when she visited Stafford, TX recently-it is about an hour from my house, but I had tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that night! Very big deal in Houston even if you are not a cowgirl! I was so torn about where to go! Congrats Lisa
Congrats, Lisa!! I absolutely loved Sugar Daddy. A couple of questions, tho. Are you going to give us the recipe for the chicken and dumplings? And is there going to be a sequel with Carrington or Hardy?
Congratulations, Lisa!! What a great way to start your contemporary romance career!!
Hugs,
Manuelita
Ewww. Thomas Pynchon. He was good on The Simpsons, though.
Yay, Lisa. I’ll be doing my part by getting a copy when you come to GA.
Congrats, Lisa!
I never had a doubt!
Congrats Lisa! I found the book at Costco yesterday and I was so thrilled to find it there! As soon as I finish my book club book I’m diving into your book. It’s killing me not to read SD right awas. It stared at me the whole time I was reading my other book!!! But I have an obligation there—boo. :-(
Great story. I always enjoy stories where the heroine must decide between two loves.
Congratulations Lisa!
It’s a great book and the reader gets a break from the usual NY, London, LA setting. I fully support romance in the Lone Star state! More folks need to know about red velvet cake!
BTW: if y’all get a chance to go to Lisa’s book signing, you should go. I met Lisa in Austin and she’s just a delight and so wonderful to talk to!
Congratulations, Lisa!!! I loved this book. It was as addictive and sigh-provoking as everyone has been saying. And I lost sleep over it too
Enjoy your success.
