I couldn’t agree more.  At least buy the song Love and Affection-- “I am not in love, but I’m open to persuasion… With a friend, I can smile, but with a lover I can hold my head back and really laugh.”.  Amazing song with a great funky repeated groove that’ll make you wanna dance, too.

My other favorite Armatrading is Willow.  Completely different feel, Liz mentioned how different all her songs are.  This one’s about offering to be the friend for those in need.  “In the rain and snow I’ll be your fireside. Come running to me when things get out of hand .”

I don’t have any Joan, Liz, something I obviously need to rectify!

I have always admired her. I don’t think I have heard one of her songs in years! I will have to remedy that..

You know I, for some reason get her mixed up with Tracey Chapman..the same soul-ful music and deep voice, maybe (my brain is probably the problem, though!) Very nice, Ms. Liz, she is great! And sticking with it, too!

ms mary, I can understand why you’d mix them up.  A lot of commonalities in their overall being.

Liz, this one took me back in a big way.  I love, love, love Joan, though really when I hear her now, I think mainly of my ex, for some reason.
