There are so many shows I’m thrilled are coming back.

Sunday:
Battlestar Galactica
Dresden Files

Monday:
PrisonBreak
Heroes

Tuesday:
Veronica Mars

Lost doesn’t come back until Feb, so I’m still pretending the show does not exist.

I watched the premiere of 24, it’s still a very entertaining and fast paced show, but I’m a big fan of Heroes and when faced with a choice between that and 24, Heroes is going to win.

Oh Teresa, I’ve tried with Jack, especially after you all here raved so much.. but that neck biting thing was my last straw..I’m too wimpy for prime time! I’m so bad, I can’t even take the medical shows w/the blood and stuff.. shut eye
However, the ‘Idol ‘show is interesting..really can some of those people even think they can sing? We are still hanging on with ‘Survivor’, when ever that comes back..Feb?
I’ve sort of caught up with this century and finally got a Netflix acct...so we are catching up on movies...I think I’m developing a Heath Ledger thing… cheese
And can I add Russell Crowe in “Cinderella Man’ was just great!

I saw this post and IMMEDIATELY freaked out. He’s my knight in (somewhat battered and beaten) shining armor...sigh. Well, I didn’t get to catch the Season 6 premier (I know I know...what kind of fan am I), but I have good reason to: I was still catching up on the season 5 dvds. But that’s okay, because Blockbuster had the season premier dvd the day after it aired, and I’m now availing of its no late fee policy.

But anyway....what a great post Teresa. It made my day!

P.S. I’m still in mourning over Tony Almeida (and basically everyone else!)

I love to watch the first few episodes of American Idol every season just to see the really appallingly bad singing, but I always feel a little bit bad for the ones who truly think they are good even while I’m laughing at the audacity of Simon’s remarks ("You look like a bush baby.")

As for the new shows:
Greys Anatomy
Lost
Survivor
Amazing Race (except I’m really ticked off that Rob and Amber are back again.  Can’t we get rid of them?!!!)
Heroes
Monk
The Contender
Psych
ER

That’s just a few that I can think of right now.

I have watched American Idol the past couple of seasons, but found as it rolled around again this week I had absolutely no desire to watch it.  So I didn’t.

The only show I’m truly excited about this season is Dirty Jobs.  Forget Jack Bauer, Mike Rowe is the sexiest man on TV, IMHO.  Who cares if he’s covered in poo and other noxious substances?  He’s smart, funny, self-depricating, not afraid of hard work, and even sings opera.  And those blue, blue eyes.  <sigh>.

I’ve never watched 24, but I think I’d like it if I did.  I do really like The Unit, which is a whole group of sexy, deadly guys.

Dexter!!  I was SO addicted to that show, and I’m very excited there will be a second season this year.  This series is frightening because it shows you how easy it would be to fall in love with someone who has a few skeletons in his closet.... literally.  He’s a blood-spatter analyst by day, a vigilante serial killer by night.  Also, the book that inspired the series, Darkly Dreaming Dexter, is a thrilling read.  Can’t wait for season two.

Oh, SO kewl.

“24” is the only show that ever made me applaud my TV at the end of an episode (this past Monday, as Teresa was rolling and screaming, I was applauding and yelling “Oh no, they DIDN’T!!").  I think there’s something really compelling about a show where you know that not a single character is safe at any given moment.  Well, except for Jack, but that’s just ‘coz he’s an Executive Producer.  And Our Hero.

Go Keef!

smile Mike

I cannot watch American Idol. I just can’t. In a past life I had to sit through auditions for musicals myself. If I watch even five minutes of the auditions on Idol, I break out into hives and begin rocking back and forth in my chair! It kills me. Really.

I love Jack. I love his manbag, though it hasn’t surfaced yet this season.

As a character, he’s such a cool badboy I can’t help it.

Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, the creators of “24”, wrote and produced a show on USA, years ago, called La Femme Nikita.
Great show, kick butt terrorist stuff, and Michael and Nikita will always be my modern day “star crossed lovers”. It’s no wonder “24” has been such hit.

I only watch American Idol for the auditions. Well me, dh and the boys. After the auditions I don’t watch it again.

As for 24 dh and I both caught the 4 hour premier. I love 24...dh got me hooked a couple of seasons ago. I don’t watch the bloody parts because I am squeamish, but the rest of it just keeps me going. And I too was yelling OMG!! at the end of the show.

Teresa I loved Jack Bauer’s rules to romance!!! LOL  Too funny!

BethW....I love Dirty Jobs and I love Mike Rowe...his humor on that show is the best. Dh and I watch it every Tuesday night.

I haven’t seen HEROES yet but I get the feeling it’s one of those I’m going to want to catch up with on DVD.  (That’s how I got hooked on 24.  I still haven’t seen Seasons 3 and 4 yet!)

ms. mary, I just joined NetFlix too!  (I know.  I’m always a step behind.) I just love it and wish I’d joined 5 years ago.

And hey Mike, I’m glad someone was as blown away (literally) by the 24 premiere as I was!

miss_annalee, I’m still in mourning over Edgar.  I wept copious tears over that episode.

Andreaw, Simon is pretty cute, isn’t he?  I’ve always loved sarcastic, bitter British men.  He’d make a great sidekick for a Regency hero, wouldn’t he?  Or maybe even the hero.

Cherry, after watching some of the recent stuff on the news about child predators, I think I could learn to appreciate DEXTER.  My dad watches it.

Theresa, I’m a total 24 virgin!  Never seen 1 episode.  My DH watched one last year after the Superbowl and keeps saying “We HAVE to rent this series and start watching it!” So - that’s our plan (when we have time confused) I do love that you can go out and just get a whole series at one time and skip the commercials, the week-long, sometimes months long, wait for the next episode.  I’m also a little squeamish so I’d probably be watching it through my hands!

American Idol is the ONLY show outside of anything on Disney or Nick we can watch as a family.  And even that is getting horrid.  My whole family laughs at me cause I can’t stay in the room and watch these people humiliate themselves.  I just think it’s cruel.  And the show is bad enough, but we have to speed through all the commercials because they are so violent!!  Am I getting old or what!!??

I’m considering the whole Netflix thing.  I just went on Amazon and researched all the period piece movies I’d love to watch (ie. Middlemarch, Henry V, Wives and Daughters, Bleak House, etc. - the list is sooooo long).  If I succumb, I don’t know where I’ll fit regular TV in.

I love American Idol--except for these audition episodes.  I just cringe, not just over the bad singing, but also the lashback some contestants give out when told they can’t sing.  Some of them are just so socially awkward and unbalanced.  I find myself watching (cause I want to pick my winners) and flicking the channel whenever it gets too intense, just to flick back after a few seconds to see what I’m missing.  I think it’s an illness.

I had never watched 24 but wanted to see what all the hype was about, so I watched the season finale last year (loved it but had no idea what was going on).  Watched the season premiere this week and was like you Teresa, jumping around, crying, just generally freaking out.  I’m not sure I’ll follow the season because it’s more than my nerves can take.  Maybe after it’s out on DVD and I can get all the way to the end safely and at my own pace.

The show I’m addicted to is House, and I have a soft spot for CSI and Grey’s Anatomy.  I watch lots of other shows, but don’t really care if I miss them.  The “new” season doesn’t hold too much promise for me.  Oh, and my dh likes Numbers, so we watch that together on Friday Nights.  I’m afraid I don’t like the show quite as much as snuggling on the couch, and I often have a book in hand.

I’m such a geek.  I love all the Law & Order shows.  If I can’t watch them, then I dvr them!  I also love ‘Without a Trace’ and ‘Cold Case’.  But the show that I can’t wait for the next season is ‘The Closer’.  I love love love that show.  I even got the first season on dvd the day it came out!!  I’m anxiously awaiting the second season.  Another show that I love is ‘Midsomer Murder’.  Haven’t heard of it you say?  Well, it’s a British show that is on A&E on Sundays. (well, up here in Albany, NY that is)

I love my Netflix.  I’ve been able to get movies and tv show episodes that I would never have been able to get anywhere else.  I got all of the ‘Sharpe’ shows with Sean Bean.  cheese  Next on my Netflix wish list is the British tv show that Helen Mirren is in where she plays a Police woman.  Still haven’t seen her in ‘The Queen’ but loved her as Elizabeth I.

Loved the ‘24’ list today, Teresa.  lol

Desperate write,

Since you mentioned Smallville, just what did you think of the awesomeness of last night’s episode? I loved seeing the beginnings of the Justice League. All those heroes in one place at one time… I loved when Clark was like Boy Scout? and The Green Arrow was like you weren’t there to choose your name, neither was Bart, so they called him Impulse instead of Flash. It would be really cool to see a spinoff with those characters. I wonder if they will. I love Chloe too, she was great last night,

Loved the list!! Had me choking on my Starbucks. Fortunately nothing happened to my keyboard!

The DH and I saw Idol for the first time this past week. Soooo strange and compelling at the same time. I would have thought more people in Seattle could sing. What was with the woman with the pink arms and legs? And did anyone else think that weird mother/daughter team was a set up? I kept waiting for the SNL cameras to appear and we’d find out it was all just a skit!!

We love Boston Legal...such great writing. But TV time is hard to find around here, so we do most series on DVD. What a great way to watch. No commercials and we get to pick the start time!

I loved last night’s episode--esp. since Lana wasn’t in it!  And you’re right-- seeing Clark and his friends com together as a team was good.

I’m worried about the actress who plays Lois, tho-- she’s lost a lot of weight.

I always tell myself I’m not that bad about TV, but I do have my list of must-see’s.

I am an Idol fan.  The auditions are painful, but a necessary evil on the road to the final shows.

House is next.  I love the writing and Hugh Laurie.  Just awesome!

Next is CSI and CSI Miami.  Miami is like watching a live action cartoon.  Somehow I keep checking in.

And lastly...Mythbusters.  Where else can you blow things up in the name of science?  Last nights study of the effect of cannons on the side of a pirate ship...BOOM! LOL

And then there’s NASCAR...that’s only like 20 hours of programming a week...When do I have time to write?

I’m happy to say that I have broken my addiction to television in the past year.  It was ingrained in me from childhood.  Of course, I am now addicted to the internet but we’re not going to discuss that.

I do love Gilmore Girls and try not to miss it.  I was addicted to Grey’s Anatomy but this season is not doing it for me.  Not sure why.  I really like the new show Men in Trees but I don’t think it’s getting very good ratings so I’m afraid it won’t be around much longer.

Other than that I’m just waiting for Nascar to start.  Vroooom!  I’ve been watching it since I was a little girl and I look forward to it every year.  BTW Bettybounce, I almost cried when I heard about BP.  That is such a major loss.

Great blog, Teresa.  I don’t watch 24 but my sister is addicted and I have to send her over here to check out your list.  Too funny.

LOL!  My verification is cent23 so I guess instead of my 2 cents this is my 23 cents.

desperate writer,

I liked that Lana was not in the episode either. It was nice to watch Clark and not hear him p(wh)ining over her.

As for Lois, it’s unfortunate that actresses feel this desperate need to be so tiny that it actually ruins your good looks. I’ve thought for some time that she looks haggard, and a big part of that is due to her weight loss. She looked much better before wl. Let’s hope these actresses figure it out and get back to healthy weights before they start dropping like flies.

I did cry :-( His happy commentary is part of what sold me on the sport in the late 80’s.  I simply can’t conceive of a season without BP.  And Bobby Hamilton the week before...a sad way to start the year.

Bettybounce,

I have to admit I wasn’t as torn up about Bobby Hamilton.  He ate dinner at a table next to mine in a restaurant in Nashville once and he left the waitress (who had worked her butt off) a little stack of dimes.  I just lost all respect for him.  But I was surprised as I didn’t even know he was sick and he was so young.

And I can’t believe I forgot to mention that I’m so happy to have my Fox Soccer Channel.  I get to watch the English Premiere League games and now I’m hooked.

As for Idol, I don’t find making fun of people with disabilites funny.  I love to watch to see who I think will win because I like following their progress (I still can remember Fantasia’s audition).  Other than that, the “bush baby” comment really bothered me.  I don’t allow the kids to watch this show, they are strictly limited to Animal Planet, Nick (although I have strictly banned “Mr. Meaty”, Noggin, Nick Jr., Discovery Kids, and Cartoon Network.

Bar har har!  My husband (a huge comic book fan) loved SMALLVILLE last night because of its “genesis of the Justice League” storyline and the fact that Lana wasn’t whining or crying in it.  She’s such a lovely young woman but I feel they’ve done a real disservice to her character lately.  (And how dumb ARE you if you haven’t figured out that Clark has superpowers after 6 years?)

My husband just looked at me when I turned to him and said, “Oh no!  I think they’re going to make Lex Luthor a bad guy!” What can I say?  Michael Rosenbaum is one hot baldie!

You guys are making me drool! I haven’t watched TV since the summer; I can’t keep up with all these great shows because I live in a house with ten people and it’s impossible to watch TV in the living room - usually the guys are playing beer pong or something. Also, my schedule is never consistent enough to stay on top of all these series, and even if it was I wouldn’t have time for it. I guess I can only have one time-eating vice at a time, and romance novels are pugnaciously remaining in that spot. Boohoo though, I miss all my old shows, like 24 and Smallville. Can’t wait to get out of college and have my own place!

By the way, my friend is on the post-production team of 24, doing editing and stuff, and she gets to go to all their parties. She personally knows Jack Bauer! ahem, I mean Kiefer Sutherland.

I started watching Battlestar galactica at the end of season 2.5. I think I’d seen 1 or 2 eps of season 1 as well. So as someone who started on season 3 without really having seen the others seasons, I’d say you could probably start with season 3.5 and be okay. They always do previouslys… but I think you’ll want to go back and watch the rest of the seasons relatively quickly, because the show is just so darn addicting.  I love BG. I didn’t think I would but this show is not just another sci-fi show, its so much more than that.

I still love CSI more than anything (well besides Law and Order:CI and SVU) but I am a 24 fan. My husband on the other hand is a 24 junkie! We just bought every season at Christmas during the sales (every one was marked down from it’s usual $50 to $20 and $25).

I am surrently addicted to:

Heroes
House
Grey’s Anatomy
Ugly Betty
Lost
Desperate Housewives

We watched American Idol this week--honestly, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when some of those people sing.  It’s really painful to watch, but I can’t help myself!

I love I LOVE LUCY!!  Always have, always will.  Speaking of Will, I miss Will and Grace.

Secret show: Deal or No Deal.  I like the Italian version is even better.  It lasts three hours and in between they do a lottery, a variety show and the news....right in the middle of the show...amazing.

Dancing with the Stars is also a great show when I can catch.  Baby Girl loves it especially since she is taking ballroom dancing at school.

I agree. I have the first four seasons of I LOVE LUCY on DVD. Will get the others soon. When I finish this book.

My fave shows - Men In Trees (though Lynn is seriously ruining Jack for me!); How I Met Your Mother; Las Vegas; 1 vs 100 when I can catch it on TV; 2 and a half men and starting to like Adventures of Old Christine, way better this season then last. Looking forward to the all star version of amazing race.

I haven’t seen many episodes of 24 though I caught half of the premiere last week.

OMG doesn;t Jack look like a total jerk after last night… and did you SEE the clips for the next episode??

Seriously… Jack looks so not cool right now.. kind of like weak pond scum…
hahaha.

I also LOVE Las Vegas!!!! Can I just say you have great taste in TV?

I LOVE “MY BOYS”... Anyone see that show stopping heart pounding kiss at the end of the season???? whoooo… loved that episode.. watched it 3 times.

Respectfully, I have to disagree, Laura!

I wonder how anyone would come back whole and undamaged from 2 years of torture in a Chinese prison, then have the wits and cajones that Jack had after he was asked to save the country without any respite whatsoever.  On top of that, he had to make the choice to shoot a respected friend, even if he understood and agreed with exactly why that friend was going rogue but had to abide by the rules of the game they were having to play by. All of this in 4 hours of one day.  I happen to think Jack is AMAZING. smile I think his showing such strength despite an internal conflict really rounds him out as a character.

Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier-- I love Without A Trace and Cold Case, too.smile

Oh, and a note about Grey’s Anatomy--Last night’s episode (and the week before) was based on a true story. The writer who created that episode lost her father exactly the same way. If you are a Grey’s fan, you’d love the Grey’s writers’ blog.  http://www.greyswriters.com

That episode hit so close to home for me, as it did many people.

Teresa, I loved your list.

Looks like I’ve missed several wonderful days of blogging.  I’m on vacation in Freezing Cold Ohio to visit my grandbaby for first time.  Brrrrrrr......

Anyway, my hubby is addicted to 24 and Prison Break.  (I heard his hoots and hollers while I was upstairs, I figured something good was going on.) He constantly tries to get me to watch.  I did a few times, but found them so brutal at times, I had to go to another room.  So I just go read while he watches those shows.  I like NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Ghost Whisper.  I’ll check back in, in a few days when I get back to the warm south.

I am eagerly awaiting the new episode of Bones this coming Wednesday. Used to watch House, (but the whole Tritter thing ruined it for me, Wilson is also NOT a good friend)!
I love CSI: Miami and New York and NCIS! All the Law & Orders are good, but SVU and CI are the best these days! And I am very curious how the new series on Sci-Fi, The Dresden Files, works out. I miss Eureka! And can’t wait for The Closer to come back!

Laura T, we’re into MY BOYS too!  Very charming and lots of snappy writing without being overly cliched.

Michelle, that’s so funny because when I saw the first two nights of AMERICAN IDOL auditions were set in Minneapolis and Seattle, I SO expected Ms. Brockway and Ms. Dodd to show up!

I hardly watch TV, mostly cause I forget. But the ones I’m looking forward to with total 5 yr anticipation is Prison Break and Heroes. Thank goodness the new season starts this Monday, I don’t think my nails can last any longer....

Sorry I’m late in joining the party, but my work computer wouldn’t allow me to access this site today!  *grrr*

Terri, I love 24!!!!  Oh my god!  That first episode when Jack comes back all tortured and scarred and traumatized… I just want to lick his wounds.  *g* And I’m sorry but Hamas (the terrorist that Jack is working with who’s really not a terrorist) is sooo sexy… even when he tortured the other terrorist.

Can’t wait for LOST to begin - 3 more weeks is going to be so long.  Excited about PRISON BREAK this Monday, too!

Hmmm… my word verification is hit67… omen perhaps?

I am talking about the JACK on Men in Trees…

it’s really a fluffly show… I haven’t watched the Jack you are talking about at all…

This Jack on Men in Trees told Maren that he loved her on the phone and then when his ex came back he dropped Maren Frist like a hot potato… and well… anyway… you can see how this is a fun fluffly show, not really at all like the Jack you are talking about… I was responding to Lis and how she was talking about Lynn and I was agreeing with her on Men in Trees… not the show you are talking about LOL.. (I haven’t seen that one even!)

Sorry for the misunderstanding! I totally have to start watching this other Jack.. he sounds way cooler that the Jack on Men in Trees hahaha. ... although I am still holding out a little hope on the Men in Trees Jack.. for him to be a good hero to Lynn or Maren if he could just make up his mind for real.

I am so tired so I am sorry for all of the net speak in my post… Friday and my brain is fried… good thing the weekend is here! yay!

I just discovered “Ugly Betty” during Christmas when they showed back to back episodes.  I just love that program.  It makes me laugh and cry, and generally feel good.  I did watch the two nights of American Idol, but I just cringed at some of the things the judges said.  I might wait a few weekes before I watch it again.

I love Amazing Race, but I get so nervous watching it; almost like I’m the one running around.  So now while I’m watching it I eat popcorn without butter; for some strange reason it helps me be less nervous.

I have made a resolution to not watch anything that does not leave me feeling that my time was well spent; as I could have been reading a good book!  The only exception to that is NCIS because my husband will rub my feet if I stay and watch it with him.  smile

We are huge 24 fans. We’ve seen every episode as it aired since season 1. We don’t watch too much other TV, although we do really like Medium. I was laughing at Santa’s comment, because we were just mentioning the other night, as we watched, that her poor hubby has never slept through the night!

My son the math freak is addicted to Numbers, so that’s the one Prime Time show he watches.

I LOVE 24! I can’t believe what happened at the end of Hour 4 either. What a sad, tragic thing. Poor Jack! Kiefer Sutherland is such a good actor and I think he was meant to play that part. I cannot wait to see what happens next week.

Oh, my...Monday is the great 24 vs. Heroes faceoff! We’re still trying to figure out how to deal with it in our house, since hubby and I watch them both!

Shows that I’m in to…

Heroes
House
Monk
24
American Idol
Project Runway

...sometimes...Bones...Smallville...Lost...The Simpsons

Dog Whisperer,,,

And whenever Adult Swim is airing GOOD anime…

OH...and BattleStar Galactica and Doctor Who!

This seems to have evolved into our main tv watching time of the year, what with everything on our list airing new episodes except Doctor Who and Project Runway

Oh Elyssany, I forgot to mention that the supposedly reforming terrorist that Jack is trying to help on “24” is Alexander Siddig, the former Dr. Bashir from STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE.  I thought he was cute on DS9 but after watching 24, I’m like, “Whew!  He makes one really hot terrorist!”

And I think Brendan on MY BOYS is adorable.  He looks just like a guy I would have totally fallen in love with in the 11th grade.

I must admit that my first intro to 24 was this season’s four hour opener.

HOLY $hi!  where the hell have I been.

Luckily, my mother has all the seasons on DVD (she watches them while she is on her exercise bike thing--she says it makes her peddle faster...now I see why)

I like how there is no clearly dilineated good or bad guy (cept Jack--thank God he’s not playing a serial killer for once).

So we’re hooked.

and I watch:
House
Grey’s Anatomy (husband doesn’t like it)
Dexter on showtime
Rome
and now 24

My husband likes Sopranos but it doesn’t really do it for me.

And here’s a funny story (if I do say so):

I’m wearing this heart monitor thing for 30 days because I have some mild valve issues and my heart skips around.

Generally, I’m pretty dead---between 65-80 beats/minute.

When I’m rushing the kids off to school, I’m in the 80s.

During 24, I glanced down and I was at 135!

Oh J Perry, the thing that happened between Jack and Curtis near the end will have even more impact when you see the other seasons.  The way Curtis was looking at him after the uh...incident...just broke my heart.

Too funny about the heart monitor!  You’re lucky they didn’t race you to hospital and crack open your chest!

Teresa, When Alexander Siddig and Kiefer first meet up and are holding guns on each other.. I swear I almost died and went to heaven.  There must be something wrong with me that I thought that was sexy....

Oh my God, yes!  Letme just say, instead of pursuing my spritual growth this morning, my husband and I are half way through season one.

There are 24 episodes in a season--we started last night (that’s...what?....12 one hour episodes in half a day?--my dh says we’re are not nuts, just driven and goal-oriented (and a little ocd)).

My eyes are all swimmy from watching the tv screeen so long

I may have lost weight just sitting there

We only take breaks to pee and feed the kids.

We’re making my mother fed ex season two and three.

TERRI!  YOU started this!

I LOVE 24 and Battlestar Galactica.  These two shows are tied for best drama in my eyes.  My other favorites are Grey’s Anatomy and House, even though they can be a little soapy at times.
